01Body

  1. Cast on 84 stitches in the first colour (main colour) on the circular needles and join in the round.
  2. Rows 1–8: work 1×1 rib (knit 1, purl 1).
  3. Rows 9–22: work in stockinette stitch.
  4. Rows 23–31: work the jacquard in stockinette stitch following Scheme 1 — 9 rows, 12 repeats of 7 stitches. ↓ Download Scheme 1 (PDF)
  5. Put the body on hold: move the stitches onto a holder (a piece of waste yarn works) and continue with the sleeves.

02Sleeves (make 2)

  1. Cast on 18 stitches and join in the round. Rows 1–8: work 1×1 rib (knit 1, purl 1).
  2. Row 9: increase 6 stitches evenly = 24 stitches.
  3. Rows 10–13: stockinette stitch without increases.
  4. Row 14: increase 1 stitch at the beginning of the row = 25 stitches.
  5. Rows 15–16: stockinette stitch without increases. Row 17: increase 1 stitch = 26 stitches.
  6. Rows 18–19: stockinette stitch without increases. Row 20: increase 1 stitch = 27 stitches.
  7. Rows 21–22: stockinette stitch without increases. Row 23: increase 1 stitch = 28 stitches.
  8. Rows 24–32: work the jacquard in stockinette stitch following Scheme 1 — 9 rows, 4 repeats of 7 stitches. ↓ Download Scheme 1 (PDF)
  9. Move the stitches of the first sleeve onto a holder.
  10. Knit the second sleeve the same way.

03Joining and yoke

  1. Transfer the stitches of one sleeve, the body and the second sleeve onto the circular needles in this order: 42 back stitches, 28 sleeve stitches, 42 front stitches, 28 sleeve stitches. You now have 140 stitches.
  2. Rows 32–56: work the 25 rows of the yoke following the “Coquette” chart. ↓ Download the Coquette chart (PDF)

Tip · Check your stitch count against the marks on the Coquette chart: 120 stitches at chart row 9, 100 at row 16, 80 at row 17 and 60 at row 21.

04Neckline and finishing

  1. When the yoke and all its decreases are done you should have 60 stitches. Switch to the main colour.
  2. Row 57: work 1×1 rib (knit 1, purl 1), decreasing evenly across the row (knit 1, purl 2 together) = 40 stitches.
  3. Rows 58–74: work 1×1 rib tightly.
  4. Bind off loosely.
  5. Sew the underarm seams.
